Review Text

This is the second edition of a book I really like. This new edition is much larger (twice) than the first and it answers many of the problems and new approaches that were left out or only partly explained in the first edition. Paradis has done a great job. For anyone working on phylogenetics this is THE BOOK. The book covers a wide range of topics from how to plot a phylogeny, to phylogeny estimation, inference and simulation all under the R framework. The coverage with the R examples is fantastic and clear, making extrapolation to your problem particularly relatively easy. Overall a book that must be applauded.

An indispensable reference for using the "ape" package. This is a must-have for any biologist who uses R!

A perfect book if you want to start learning R for phylogenetic analyses. Well written, easy to use, and with examples to practice.
