I've never owned a horse, and only ridden one a few times. None the less, this devotional uses the relationship between a horse and its trainer as an analogy to our relationship with God. Each day begins with a Scripture verse, then the reading describes something about a horse and trainer, then demonstrates how that can be translated into our life in God.One of the marvels of God's word is that it is layer upon layer in meaning. Pauline, at times, sees something in her reading of Scripture that I don't. This is what makes reading another's devotional valuable. Discovering a new way to apply a verse. Her use of horse and trainer to see meaning in Scripture is fresh, and could appeal to anyone.

These short devotionals for horse lovers start out each day with a scripture and are all Biblical-based, which I appreciate. Then, each devotional has an illustration from horses (which horse lovers will understand and relate to) that the author then relates to our spiritual lives. Even though I've never owned horses, I still found the illustrations interesting and was able to them apply them to my spiritual life.My favorite was devotional #35 - I think I'm still often like a wild horse: fidgety with difficulty releasing control to someone else. It was such a good reminder to me today as I know that God is asking me to surrender fully to Him.Recommended!

My one and only complaint about this book is that it ended too soon. I read it daily, sometimes reading ahead a day or two, then going back and rereading the previous day's devotions. The author not only knows the Bible, but she knows her horses as well and the analogies she makes are right on target. They teach without preaching, and were a blessing to me.

I love the way the author compared our walk with God to a horse's relationship with its owner. Even if you haven't ever owned a horse, you will appreciate the clever comparisons. As a horse is carefully and patiently taught to respect and cooperate with its trainer, so we must listen for God's commands and learn how to execute them - both in and out of the ring. I enjoyed reading this book and I'll be keeping it on my Kindle so that I can refer back to some of the lessons that are especially meaningful to me.

A fun little devotional that carries a horse theme. Each day's thought creates an illustration about horses that relates to a Christian's spiritual life. Nothing heavy, just a simple thought for each day. More like reminders of God's grace and wisdom in our lives.

i AM IN THE PROCESS OF DOING MY 40 DAY DEVOTIONAL AND KINDA USING THIS BOOK TO GET MYSELF IN GEAR. I LOVE IT! IT DOES NOT OVER LOAD YOU AT ALL AND THE HORSE SIDE CORRELATES WELL WITH THE SCRIPTURE. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANY HORSE PERSON.

Unlike many girls, I never grew up loving horses. As a matter of fact, I was afraid of them. But after reading Pauline's devotional I have a new appreciation and love for these majestic animals. This was a quick read where I learned a ton about horses. Did you know that a horse rarely knows how big he is? Or that horses don't naturally walk in straight lines? Each day started with scripture, then a fact about horses, followed by a deep spiritual truth. I found Pauline's devotionals Biblically based and encouraging. And I loved the photos throughout too.Highly recommended!
