The Complete Chronicles of Narnia (text only) by C. S. Lewis,P. Baynes I bought this copy because for one, I personally did not want a "movie tie-in" version, I wanted to have a hardcover edition that contained all of the books in one that I could keep for years and pass down to my children - in short, good quality, tasteful, with pictures. It was described as being "Used - Good", but it arrived in excellent condition (no noticeable tears on the book itself with only slight page wear). This version came with a book jacket which is identical to the hard cover itself, so I threw away the jacket which was well worn. Also, the book description says "text only", which is strange, because this copy has tons of the original illustrations in full-color (I'll try to post pictures soon).I feel like I hit the jackpot with this purchase and I highly encourage everyone to get this copy ASAP, because I've noticed the price of the "all-in-one" books skyrocketing lately (Barnes and Noble used to have a "leather"-bound copy for $20 three years ago which is $100 now). I sure hope these books don't go out of print, but if they do, you'll be glad you purchased this particular version, because it'll be passed down the family.

This is a beautiful paperback box set of the Narnia collection, that so many of us grew up with. The covers are nice, thick and protective of the pages inside, which are of good paper stock. I have no print fading or errors that I've noticed. The art on the outter box is beautiful on all sides, with a little read up at the top. For paperbacks, I believe this is the way to go! Highly recommended!

I bought the Audio CDs and they are truly AMAZING. I did a lot of research before; the Narnia series have been converted to audiobooks before but this one, Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, is the BEST dramatized version. It is a dramatized version with a full cast of voice actors. As you listen to the audiobooks, it really sounds like you are listening to the movies. The voice actors, the music, the ambience, and all the sounds bring it roaring to life in a super impressive way. All 7 books are included in the dramatized audiobooks, about 2-3 CDs per book in sleeves, and all of it contained in a tin box with a map of Narnia too. The beginning of the CDs start with a short introduction by C.S. Lewis' step-son, Douglas Lewis. The book they wrote with "1" on the case is the Magician's Nephew, so the intention is for you to listen to that one first. C.S. Lewis technically wrote that book almost last to answer fans' questions about the beginning of Narnia, but it is prequel that takes place before all the others so it will make more sense to listen to it first. (Some people claim that C.S. Lewis didn't make the "revisions" for that book to be read first but that doesn't make sense since it chronically really is the first on a timeline. Besides, C.S. Lewis' own son Douglas who hosts the audiobooks says it is really the first book to be read. You can listen to them in any order you like though.) These audiobooks are truly enjoyable and a fantastic bargain, everyone I've shared samples with have also been very impressed. Honestly, "amazing" is the best word to describe them!

Beware of the difference between the hardcover and softcover of this edition: the hardcover is a single volume, and the softcover is a boxed set! But, with that out of the way, these books are some of the most delightful and thought-provoking stories you will ever encounter. I fell in love with them as a child, and still consider them among my favorite works of fiction—now I get to introduce a new generation of young readers to them, who I hope will enjoy them as much as I did at their age! C.S. Lewis is truly a master storyteller who incorporates important observations of human nature and lessons of morality and faith into a world of magic and endless possibilities.

We listened to the series over an extended road trip this summer - several hundred miles with no screen time and no whining! There are a few instances when the background music seems to overpower some of the audio, but not to the point of being problematic. The audio dramas are wonderfully done and really bring the stories to life, but that means these are slightly abridged. However, instead of detracting from the author's message the dramas inspired us to read the books as a family to find any details we might have missed. Highly recommend, with no reservations!

Barnes and Noble's Narnia(complete) Classics leather bound is a great addition to your child's library. The book is a beautiful blue with silver embossed images, classic style art and maps, an attached ribbon bookmark, and golden page trim (not pictured).Obviously the book is rather large and heavy so it's more for staying in and reading than reading on-the-go, however my main complaint about this line of B & N classics is that the paper used is incredibly thin and delicate - as you can surely see from the title page image attached - the paper is so thin it is considerably transparent. But with an original price tag of aprox. $20USD per book it is a steal.

Everyone should love Narnia. I was supposed to read this as a school project. Needless to say, that wasn't exactly a chore for me!I have read the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe before and this really does explain every part of that, from how the white witch started to how there was another world to who the professor was other than just "professor" and even how the wardrobe got there and became a portal practically. Not to mention the warning here from Aslan made sense, with the whole world war 2 setting the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe has.I feel like this should be a big formal review for a book like this, but I can't do that. But I do know if you're 8 or younger, you won't really get Narnia, so you might as well leave it alone. I had to read Narnia when I was about 8. And not only was I bored, but I had no idea what was going on.But reading Narnia now, a few years later, and I can't put it down.So it's great unless you're a smallish child.
