Gordon's book on healing continues to provide a comprehensive and thoroughly good overview and advocacy of the ministry of Christian healing. Gordon approaches the ministry of healing from a biblical perspective that is fully faithful to the teachings of the apostolic faith. He writes with many of the common objections in mind and while seeking to prove the ministry of healing from a biblical foundation, he also proves it in the face of those objections and ongoing opposition. He provides the 360 degree teaching on healing that includes the Scriptural examples and admonitions, apostolic and early church witness, ongoing church witness through history, testimonies and experiences.Gordon also recognizes and elaborates on the mysteries and challenges involved in Christian healing. This is often explained in terms of the "already-not yet" nature of God's kingdom and Christ's work. He also acknowledges that God's will is sovereign and there are times when God's will may allow a sickness unto death rather than intervene to bring about healing. And for Gordon, the ultimate healing is salvation that is the highest form of supernatural intervention. If you are all interested in the healing ministry and whether it is biblical and for today, then I recommend this book. AJ Gordon is a reputable scholar and Christian man. His earnest intent to seek the truth of the matter and follow God's will is apparent in these pages. I think he recognizes the need to be scholarly, faithful and robust in his assertions for the healing ministry, and I think he succeeds.

This book is a terrific insight into what the spiritually hungry were thinking shortly before the modern pentecostal revival. Dr. Gordon defends the theology of modern day healing extremely well.

The only thing I did not like about this book was the archaic expressions. The point of this book is that the gifts, (particularly healings) did not cease at the close of the Apostolic age. He gives examples of actual healings that occurred at his time and the past. The author does an excellent job of showing from the Bible alone that the gifts are much active! Case in point: "God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.". Also: " The gifts and callings of God are irrevocable. ". In other words, the idea that the gifts have ceased has no basis in Biblical foundation or fact. Read it, then check out how amazing God really is.

Not an "easy read"; it's deep and requires concentration and thoughtfulness. Excellent in small doses and digestion.
