It was all good. Definitely not light reading.

It is so easy for human beings to turn everything into a to-do list. It makes us feel safer and under control. The author reminds us that unless we begin with prayer we cannot expect spiritual fruitfulness. In prayer, we can begin to align ourselves with the very holy nature of God and be able to live out our lives accordingly. In a time we hear and see many who are drawn to hear what our itching ears want to hear, the author's words convict us. He reminds us about the cross and when we pray "Thy will be done", we had better be ready to accept His will and the suffering that comes with it. "Prayer", he says, "is not only a necessity of faith, it is faith itself in action." Those of us who proclaim to know God and are of faith must pray without ceasing as we work out our salvation and do His will. This book is a classic for all believers who are pursuing to know God and His Son Jesus Christ and love Him through good works. I highly recommend this book.

I first read this book over 30 years ago. I have frequently gone back to it since. Apart from the Bible, I believe it has had more impact upon me that any other book on the subject of prayer. Forsyth's language can, at times, be challenging; you might want to keep a dictionary close by. But what he has to say carries real weight. This is not a 'how to' type book. The author takes us to the real essence of prayer. I'm now glad to have this book as a part of my Kindle collection at a great price!

This short yet exhaustive examination of the long term practice of prayer blessed my soul, even though i have long been a praying Christian. It is not enough to describe it; you must read it for yourself.May it be a blessing to your life of faith.Nora T Newman

Putting James Denney's "Death of Christ" aside, there is no one else I would rather read than PT Forsyth!!

It thought me not be afraid of wrestle with God in a good sense for His will to accomplish in my life, not be passive about it.
