This book really brought history of this time period to life. There were many details revealed about the lifestyles of the various types of people that I had never heard before, such as what they did for entertainment. I can well imagine those early settlers horse swapping or gander pulling. It really gave me a feel for their characters and what really mattered to them, as well as a very detailed depiction of the history of the state. Make sure you set aside a good sized block of time before you actually start reading it because it is likely to suck you in like a well-written novel, especially if you have a favorite ancestor who lived in Georgia during this time period. I highly recommend this book to genealogists and history buffs. It is a rare treasure.

If you are researching Georgia's history, this is for you. It is a thorough, monumental work--boring but useful

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this early history of my home state. It needs a linkable index, and grammar corrections. The text is horrible.

Interesting book. Received value for what I paid. Probably won't use it much but doing genealogy you never know.
